BUILDING STRONG ENGLISH FOUNDATIONS

Give a child the tools to read, understand and speak English.

Anda Penguin is an English literacy programme for children in South African township and rural schools.

Designed to complement classroom teaching, the programme gives children additional English practice through learning materials and guided digital activities, building from vocabulary to reading, comprehension and communication.

THE LEARNING PATHWAY

From first words to
confident communication.

Learning English starts with vocabulary, but it cannot end there. The programme builds progressively towards understanding sentences, reading for meaning, expressing ideas and writing.

  1. 01

    Words

    Vocabulary, meaning and pronunciation.

  2. 02

    Language

Sentences, instructions and grammar in context.

  3. 03

    Reading

Illustrated texts that progress in complexity.

  4. 04

    Meaning

    Understanding texts and answering questions.

  5. 05

    Communication

    Listening, speaking and sharing ideas.

  6. 06

    Writing

Sentences and written responses suited to the learner’s level.

Baseline assessment informs each learner’s starting point. Assessment and a completion certificate sit within the wider programme structure.

IN THE SCHOOL

Built to work
alongside the school.

Physical and digital activities follow the same learning pathway and complement classroom teaching.

FOR FUNDING PARTNERS

See what your
funding delivered.

The programme is agreed around the learners, schools and communities your organisation wants to support, with implementation and reporting measures established before launch.

01

Baseline report

The agreed cohort, delivery records and learners’ assessed starting points.

02

Mid-programme update

Participation, implementation progress and issues requiring attention. A full-year programme also includes midline assessment.

03

Final impact report

Delivery, completion and matched baseline-to-endline results, with recommendations to continue, adapt or expand.

Activity is not proof of learning. Learning results use matched learner IDs and report how many learners were assessed.
